The team of the University of Calabria hosted at the Mathematics Department has long and strong experience in computational logic and deductive
database technology, ranging from the theoretical foundations to the implementation and optimization of
deductive database engines. UNICAL mainly contributed on the query engine part of the
project. In the layered solution approach, UNICAL has been responsible for the mid-level (Integration Engine), which is based on Computational Logic Technology.
Furthermore, UNICAL has been the co-ordinator in the project, mirroring the central role played by the
computational logic layer which connects all parts of the system.
