GianLuigi Greco

Gianluigi Greco is Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Calabria, in addition to holding the role of Director of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science for the three-year period 2018-2021. He is a member of the Academic Senate and of the Technical-Scientific Committee of the University Language Center. He is also Director of the Research Unit of the National Interuniversity Consortium for Information Technology at the University of Calabria.

His current research activities are aimed at the study of models for the diffusion of opinions on social networks, the analysis of formal models for cooperative agents associated with game theory, the identification of islands of tractability for problems of satisfiability of constraints and the development of reasoning techniques and machine / deep learning, in particular in the field of process management. The results of his research activities have been recorded on over 150 among international journals and conferences of recognized prestige in the community, including the Journal of ACM, SIAM Journal on Computing, ACM Transactions on Calculation Theory, ACM Transactions on Database Systems, ACM Transactions on Computational Logic, ACM Transactions on the Discovery of Knowledge from Data, Journal of Computer and System Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research and IEEE Transactions on data knowledge and engineering. He has been a member of the program committee of over 80 international conferences and workshops and is currently a member of the editorial board of the magazine Intelligenza Artificiale.

His research activities have received various prestigious awards. In particular, in 2018 one of his works on propagation dynamics in social networks received the IJCAI Distinduished Paper Award; in 2014 he was the winner of a Kurt Gödel Research Prize Fellowship for his contributions in the logical aspects of artificial intelligence. In 2009, he was awarded the Marco Somalvico Award, awarded by the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence to the young researcher who in his career has contributed most in Italy to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Artificial Intelligence. In 2008, his work on the computational aspects of the Nash equilibria was awarded the IJCAI-JAIR Best Paper Award, awarded annually for the best contribution that appeared in the previous five years in the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research. Furthermore, for five consecutive months (from July to November 2011), his work on the study of the complexity of solution concepts in cooperative games has resulted in the Most Read Articles of the magazine Artificial Intelligence.

He is currently scientific director of the "Explora Process" Project funded by the Calabria Region (POR 2014-2020), and previously held positions of scientific responsibility in numerous other research projects funded by MIUR or from the Calabria Region. He is a partner (founder) of "Artémat Srl" and "IDUM Srl", spin-offs aimed at the technological transfer of skills on simulations of economic models and on artificial intelligence techniques for e-tourism platforms.
